A year-long internship with AGRA Watch, the investigative subset of a food sovereignty group based in the US (CAGJ), focused on the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation’s investments in agriculture across Africa via AGRA. I got to write a report on “digital agriculture” and it taught me to understand and investigate corporate green-washing by comparing narratives in their own materials (websites, yearly reports, funding agreements).

- Knowledge of the European Parliament (relevant to the CJC project)
Decent knowledge. I like a bit of MEP reviewing from time to time.
- Special interests/knowledge relevant to research/investigative journalism:
I think I have a good basis for critically understanding and further researching:
The EU border regime. I wrote my thesis applying the notion of ‘carceral humanitarianism’ to a Red Cross camp I had tried to volunteer at when I was 19 before I knew better, and I lived and did solidarity work at the French-Italian border for two years.
Political context for South West Asia & North Africa (SWANA). As in, after three years of it being the focus of my university studies, I know what anyone from the region would know from being interested in history and politics. In short, it’s not special knowledge. At least I like to think it made me decently critical of any coverage of the region and can notice red flags for lacking knowledge or shortcuts in both academic papers and the news.
AGRA Watch introduced me to corporate greenwashing tactics, and I am really interested in researching environmental issues.
- Other skills/hobbies:
- Pole dancing, Crocheting, Drawing.
- Going out for coffee and talking. Also: Gothenburg has some lovely independent cinemas, and I love going to see movies and discussing them afterwards. I used to run these poetry evenings, and I would like to start a book club some time.
- Wikipedia deep dives.
- I think I will be able to support my fellow students with:
Emotional support – please don’t hesitate to text me if you need to talk <3
Graphic design things that may be part of presenting the work nicely.
Proofreading (take with a grain of salt)
