a)

c)
  • Have you followed the checklist for visualizations (every step)? Yes
  • Colours: How easy or difficult is changing colors using the tool? Easy
  • Text/Labels: How easy or difficult is it to work with text and labels in the tool? Easy
  • Flexibility: How flexible are the tools? Can you make the changes you need? They're quite flexible, maybe haven't explored enough to find something that I wasn't able to do.
  • Accessibility: What are the different accessibility options provided by the tools? In terms of accessibility it's very helpful for people with vision impairment because there is a section where we can insert a description about what the chart so it can be read to them. It's also possible to chose an option that shows the visualization for someone who is colourblind.
  • Smartphone: How do the charts appear on your smartphone? Have you faced any issues while accessing them? I haven't faced any issues, however some charts appear smaller and it's harder to see some of the numbers sometimes.

Assignment 3:

  • In what context do you think Datawrapper is the best tool, and why? When would you not use it? I feel as though Datawrapper could be used by people with little experience in data and visualizations because it's very easy to work with and intuitive. It could also be used when working with simpler data.
  • What are the main benefits of using Datawrapper? Intuitive and easy to work with.
  • In what context do you think Flourish is the best tool, and why? When would you not use it? Flourish is less intuitive than Datawrapper, I needed to spend more time exploring its functions and options but it has more chart options and that's an added bonus. I would use more complex data that can't just be shown on bar charts and line charts.
  • What are the main benefits of using Flourish? Definitely the amount of chart options it offers as well as graphic changes one can make within the chart, the more graphic design aspect of it.
  • Which of the tools do you personally prefer so far? I enjoyed working with Flourish and experimenting with it more than Datawrapper thus far.
